I was under the impression that a nightgaunt would go to you, fight for a few rounds, do medium damage (DISEMBOWELS, etc. like a mob would) and then return you to the caster. What I saw was a grossly overpowered, global summon. If the nightgaunt doesn't get you, the caster, who's fully prepped and has his charmies ready, will. And I have no doubt in my mind that even if I had been returned to the conjurer who summoned me, I would've had a good chance of dying anyways.
