What happened is - before all this occured, I wielded a noremove sword (didn't know, had never seen it before). Wanting to maintain the obvious benefits of this, I snagged a demon talisman in order to drop the blade. I did this, and found much to my dismay and lack of planning, that I was just shy in the cash dept to get the talisman uncursed. So, it was off to kill some merchants in private in order to garner the funds. Unfortunately, the power of the -10 strength that was upon me prevented me from picking up the merchants gold - so I dropped my stuff (temporarily, or so I had hoped) while I raised some funds. Then you showed up and spoiled everything.
