I think his description isn't as bad as you think.. I think you are referring to, and misunderstanding, the help file on descs. Putting (charname) has summoned you! In a desc isn't very RP, but him sitting and telling a story works out - he is giving an example of something his character may be doing at a point in time.

You are trying to say that if I wrote:
'Kayla's dark auburn hair cascades down the middle of her back' Would be wrong, because what if - in combat I were fighting, my hair wouldn't be cascading, but whipping about. (probably as I fled :P)
