Your not going to have barrier/shield/aura/protection from evil<->good available 24/7 esp. when dealing with hiding classes.
But for christs sake you must be virtually naked with that amount of gear, at least get some basic mage-gear before whining on the forum.
It will not guarantee you a victory, but it will prob. ensure that you might elope somewhere down the road.
Besides that backstab is rather wussy compared to what thieves might throw at you at hero ranks.
