That's true. Most people "do" think "ooc" wise about their char before playing it. So often times they take into consideration the cabal powers and how it will possibly add on what their class already has.

I've been wondering if the entire concept of "cabal powers" being a little too much. Since I've often viewed cabals as an 'aid' from the immortals to help us in role playing (it's a lot easier to work with a pre-defined role [aka ragers, masters, warders, etc.] than to come up with a completely original one). However, this 'aid' now has often been not taken as serious as their powers are. Not to say cabal powers overwhelms so much it's ridiculous to compare an uncabaled independent versus a cabaled character. (meaning I think the cabal powers should be reduced to aid and utility powers that doesn't upset it so much, so people with a refreshing role wouldn't be tempted to join a cabal, 'just for the power')

In other words, people joining Battle for deathblow rather than to actually come up with a refreshing role of ragers. Or for transform and tome, rather than a refreshing master. etc. etc.

Coming back to Sylvan, you really can't blame people for making dwarf shamans and them wanting to join Sylvan. The Sylvan cabal power compliments dwarf shaman's natural ability -perfectly-. Look at Pikel (dwarf shaman). I'm sure he didn't just randomly drummed up some character and decided to join Sylvan. (well I won't comment that he drew the char from an actual book, but his RP has actually been quite good so I'll leave him alone =)

I was hoping the co-leader of a cabal wouldn't say what you just said over a log. That you're "disenchanted" with so many dwarf applicants. Despite their numbers, you should try to view them one at a time. Since by your reasoning, anybody who drums up an elf healer has a 'higher' chance of being inducted than a dwarf shaman just for the very fact that he is 'different'.

Then are you not again, applying your own prejudice against the very people you are trying to induct? Thinking ooc about the cabal powers rather than their RP?
