Those ragers were raiding for the Orb, you see they did not know it was not there. How could they.

Rager tells you, 'Hello Mr Master do you have the orb, so we can raid and take it?'

That ain't gonna happen, they are just going to use brute force and if it ain't there come after the Palace. So don't think they were after you, you just happened to be there and be fresh meat. You could and should have lived but you opped to keep that script going.
