Actually, I find the questions a little weird. Let me ask you a question : do warriors know all the spells of a mage? I don't think so if he roleplayed. And let alone more know about how a mage uses magic! He ought to know what kind of mages are there, how to fight them; situations when people are grouped with mages, etc. But not the source of magic. No wonder he was asking if he's applying for Masters or the Village. Like someone asked me while applying for Arbiter - do you know where the Entropy cabal is? As a player, yes I do. But as a character, I don't! So stop asking questions about this and that, but stick to what he knows and not what he doesn't know. You being leaders and veterans in a Battle should guide the young ones (if they roleplay again) when they go wrong and not frustrate them during interviews. But for this ranger, your mistake is NEVER argue with the interviewer. You are to respect them with their years of experience and not know more than them (rp again here). So if your character doesn't know, admit it and I hope the leaders don't penalize them for not knowing. Jack's afraid of interrogation...
