I can't speak for the general CF populous, but I can attest to the fact that not every same site grouping is successful. However, successful or not, they are held to the same standards as any other player. Even unsuccessful same site groupings get busted if they are in fact violating the rules.

Having played CF with friends and without, I can say from my own experience that no matter how hard you try to pretend they are just another player on the game, you find yourself trusting them, relying on them, and responding to them with more energy than you would other players. To paraphrase Arolin (who I think qualifies as an expert at playing with RL), never underestimate the advantage of playing in the same room with your groupmates.

Oh, and whatever hidden agenda has you trying to paint solo players as isolation freaks seems inappropriate to this discussion.

Unfortunately, people also enjoy being successful and playing a fair game. I remember when I was hooked on Quake2 last year I really enjoyed playing the multi-player games (especially with people I'd never met before). Then Quake2 bots started popping up all over the place. Yeah, the bot players had fun dominating the game and seeing how good of a bot they could come up with, but that ruined the fun for the rest of the non-botting players. Not all things that are fun are necessarily good for a game.
