In Reply to: Why must lowbie ragers be such awful players, is there a rule somewhere that you have to be a no rp asshole? Read on. posted by Mavrikios on November 07, 1999 at 13:29:26:

The fact that people like this play the mud is a fact of life. Angst filled teenagers who want to turn this into Quake with swords and just generally give people a hard time at all opportunities are annoying, but we do have to live with them. Thankfully they never rank past 30 in most cases. This seems to be a case of one of those people who seems to attempt to throw words in with his nonsensical cursing that resemble RP. Now, should people like this be in cabals? Of course not. I always felt like cabals should be for people who weren't 'elite' in all cases, but had a firm grasp of the mud, and were at least devoted to really trying to play a role. This sounds like something that we could work towards, in theory, except for one simple fact. If one cabal starts cutting out the fools, denying them entrance because they have no clue beyond 'help battle', then that cabal is going to get smacked around by others who still let the morons trickle in and have a huge membership. If battle is down, it puts pressure on Nesam to get new ragers in, and fast, since every leader wants their cabal to be strong under them. Plus if you have 5 interviews stacked up, you're going to be a bit tired by the last one. So all the blame for something like this can't really be placed on any one person. If we made cabals hard to get into... Always questing, sending people to the lyceum to learn more, that sort of thing, there would be a general outcry of course. But if you log on your warrior, see Nesam, decide on battle, scrawl out a note, and ask to speak to him, getting in will mean a lot less to you than if you'd been waiting for weeks and weeks. I'd like to see cabal membership as something one could be truly proud of, a real accomplishment, not just something done on one afternoon's whim.

Just my thoughts, however foolish or incorrect you may believe them to be.
