To simply nullify the threat to the granite. Therefore I chose to weaken/blind/poison them all, which is why I spammed scourge. If I was out to kill (and possibly be killed) I might've thrown out a cone of cold or two (if I hadn't have just gotten the spell, still at 71%) if I had mastered it, controlled fireball seemed like an alright idea, but scourge just does so much more.
