Why didn't you charge him instead of bashing at the beginning?
It could have helped a little. I'd only worry about bashing if
it started to look like you were going to win the fight. Since
you chose not to thirst because of the storm giant, he's only
going to flee if he's losing or if a barrier fell, but don't
worry about bashing until then. I don't think feinting was such
a bad idea, he hits extremely hard, and with spellbane he's not
going to cast many spells. He can't area because of the storm
giant, so no fireball to worry about. If he's using spider hands
do you have much chance of disarming the offhand either? I'm not
sure about that part. There are several wrath maces around, and
if you're a giant some very good ones. But basically, fighting
Palan when he's fully prepared is going to be very tough.
