Yes, but was she trying to kill the giant or the ragers? It looked like she was trying to retrieve the orb, in which case controlled fireball on the giant would have been more effective.
Or even regular area spells like cone of cold, something so that the giant would always get hit, if all of those fireballs had hit the giant, it would have died.
