Singing any song, anywhere in the village (especially at the giant or Destructor) is highly encouraged. Our songs affect all members of Battle (the good songs, that is) and the giant and Destructor. In this case, it appeared that Nullrick was singing to aid the giant in case this situation turned into a raid. The fight just happened to take place where he was singing. I have no problem singing "helpful" songs for any battlerager at any time (dance, galadriel, shield, resisting, we come...even beautify), during fights. Doesn't matter what the odds are, because that is what bards of Battle do. We sing songs to aid the village. And it wouldn't matter if I sang the song before or during the fight, the affects are still the same. Life to the dying is an individual call. I will sing it to try to prevent the death of a villager if there are uneven odds against them, or after a fight, or in the village, but not if they are fighting one on one. Sometimes it can get really confusing, though, during fights. Bottom line is, to me, the Immortals would not have given our songs the ability to affect those of the village who we cannot group with if they didn't want us to use them.
