Come on now. Istendil was at the point he wanted to end his life. His character had served it purpose. As much as he loved the character, he knew he had to give it away. Now look who he chose to die to. Empire. He basicly waited for them to get organized and formed into one big group. Hell, I was there....he even taunted them to come after him. He wanted to fight a big group. It was the a good ending....dying to the Empire he made.
