I've always classified courage as doing what you believe despite any retribution (So if you were a rager that strongly believed in gangbanging. One thing I've always tried to do with Denorem is defend the village at any cost; even if he knows he'll die, he's going to try. But he has no quarrels with gangbanging (not because he thinks he needs uneven odds to win). Does that make him cowardly?

I don't see a problem with that

If someone's gangbanging because they fear dying, that is cowardly. If someone's gangbanging because they want the person dead, doesn't seem to lack courage to me.
