I don't think familiar/etc will be all that great; unless you want to lose the xp factor when you have more than 3 in a group that kills. The summon protect is sweet, but tess is a 51st rank spell; not much use to those ranking. Unless that magic missile kicks ass, they won't be much use to a ranking group. Granted, I've not yet hero'd one, so I'm talking out of my ass a bit. Time will tell, I suppose.
