Battle is probably not the best example. It's a fact that a decent percentage of any Battle member's time is going to be spent killing good-aligned mages. That's a conflict for many of the possible RP angles a good character has. Sure, you can say "Well, Magic taints them" but that could get old fairly quickly. I play almost 100% good characters, and I don't have many complaints about being less powerful than evil characters.
Sure, evils get Liches, and goodies don't have anything along the same lines, and sure, evil has better equipment, but it's not enough to put things out of balance. If you're wanting to feel powerful as a goodie, roll up an Entropy assassin. Oww.
