Other than the obvious fact that axes were the only weapon that one mage class couldn't use, I find it odd that magi of alternate planes will be running around with giant blades on sticks. Would anyone care to give an interesting/true reason for the weapon choice? (Good lies are also accepted)

Here's mine: If, upon summoning some odd being of another realm, the conjurer decides that he doesn't like the being, he has his handy axe to deal with the pesky creature.

Conjurer: "Blah blah blah, yadda yadda...and come here or somthing!"

Planer being: *POOF* "I am the great Blixnskdrersdf! Lord of all Lost Socks! What would you wish of me?"

Conjurer: "Go and smite my foes!"

Planer being: "Sorry, that's not in my job description."

Conjurer: "Really?" *reaches for his axe* "Hey! Is that giant demon behind you a friend of yours?"

Planer being: "What?!?" *spins around in fear*

Conjurer: *CLEAVE* "Assistant! Get in here and clean up this mess...and get rid of all these damn socks!"
