>>> You are a warrior. You are a ranger. You are a necromancer ... ... There is no rp justification, in my mind, for simply stopping and sitting and not attempting to complete the learning of your guild.<<< I would disagree; there are many reasons some individuals would not want to advance in an RP-stance. People [characters] could experience a myriad of events that could affect how they perceive the world. Example: The forlorn ranger who lost his beloved could seek solace in the woods and NEVER want to see another individual again, including his guildmaster, and find any intrusion into his hermitage a violation to be killed for. All sorts of people experience satisfaction where they are, never wanting to attain fame, wealth or notoriety; others can experience depression, burnout, or similar feelings. I think it's up to the person to express this through roleplaying; granted, I have seen this done far less than mindless killing. >>> People sit at lower levels because they want to pk better and so they sacrifice rp, they sacrifice the clear objective of the guild and attaining the highest level in it, for personal pk/power gain. Warriors sit at the high 20's. Rangers sit at the high 30s. Step back and look objectively at it as though you really were some human living in Galadon. If you are a warrior, you would always want to advance in level until you could advance no more, until you got your 51st level. The only reason people don't is so they can exploit game mechanics and powerlevels of various classes at those levels.<<< Again, I feel you're making an assumption on people's motives. You may be correct for some, but not all. I don't profess to know much about game mechanics, but I do know when I rank a character, it's to get those skills/abilities of the higher ranks. Perhaps certain guilds offer very little to those of higher ranks, and inadvertently promote the notion of stopping one's advancement. >>> Because people should be allowed to enjoy their power stages -- although every class can be powerful at hero, every single one -- I do not want a short duration, and so picked 100 hours. That is fully 1/5 of an average life. If they can't even level once in all that time, I do not believe they have fulfilled the rp requirement of the game.<<< I'm curious if there *is* a roleplay requirement of the game in relation to ranking and advancement. Is someone who accepts the sphere of Sloth and continually ranks and learns being faithful to his/her ethos? >>> There is already a code to kill people that pk too much pre-25th level. I see no theoretical difference in a suggestion like mine. It would require people to actually play characters that are the class they rolled, not someone playing a character with those skills and wanting to kill people so forgoing the training he normally would get if he advanced.<<< Myself, I would hate to see something like this implemented. It is putting a band-aid on a problem, rather than looking at the problem systemically and addressing the root cause. Just my two cents...
