Not that decapitating Ayn Rand would be a bad thing.... ...but seriously, Ayn Rand's philosophy is almost hypocritically elitist. She's not a staunch believer in free will, but rather something more akin to a liberated meritocracy, where the gifted "Great Men" of our society can act unfettered by unselfish concerns and restrictions. I always assumed Scarabaeus' religion was a sort of twisted version of Wicca, an oft-maligned modern pagan religion that stresses above all else: "Let thy Will be done." The Cult of the Ruby Scarab embraces the negative connotations often attributed to the group, making the religion soundly evil (in RL, Wiccans think of themselves as benign and peaceful, and fight against prejudice and misunderstanding that has them painted as conventional "witches," devil-worshipping and the like). I'd be *very* surprised if Scar wasn't familiar with this in crafting the religion.
