I have died to Nightgaunt (before the bug was fixed) and even after the fix, they are still indeed a highly feared being. I'm not whining about it. After reading Kushnak's fight log of 2 Nightgaunts attacking him, I would think it's way too much. I would suggest:

1. Having a 30 hour (or something reasonable) protection after a Nightgaunt attack. This would truly limit the power of the spell in distance attack and surprise.

2. Only one Nightgaunt can attack the victim at any one time.

Jack's afraids of the dark nowadays. This would improve the chance of survival.
