Though that may vary from gameworld to gameworld (Greyhawk had short elves, but Forgotten Realms might have tall ones). Rolemaster uses tolkien elves. Real mythology has all kinds of elves (including goblins, trolls, leprechauns, pixies, etc.). I believe that in Scandinavian mythology, trolls are what we consider dwarves.

Other books use the more 'faerie-esque' elf, that is more based on the mythical sprite-like merry, happy go lucky elven type. I have no idea about game size...but figured since I did know about elves, I'd post that.
