Heh, complaining is human nature. It is simply the forum that lets people air their gripes while they are still irrational and half-insane with rage. The first three or so years of the mud running saw alot of this, only with no forums around people liked using notes to ALL.

5 or so years ago, I found myself running home from work (and getting in trouble for it) just so I could login to mud for a few minutes. Looking back, I can think of a multitude of times that game has gotten my adrenaline pumping, and my arms shaking with rage or joy. I won't comment on the sad state my social life was in at that time, but I agree that it is fully possible to become completely immersed in the world that is CF, and it is certainly more exciting and rewarding that real life, even if its only in your mind.

All of my really memorable moments have been when I walked on the uncharted paths and did something on a whim, or let my characters stray into areas that were strictly unheard of at the time, or simply spent time with others who knew how to roleplay. Anytime I was forced to conform to roles simply out of fear of retribution or scorn, that character was reduced to a set of stats and equipment, and generally died after a miserable and uneventful life.

My number one favorite aspect of the mud was getting to know and talk to the Imms and players... Stormace, Nighthawk, Ishmael, Saher, Nepenthe, Lanthaeren, Jullias, Twist and Cador (I'm sure I am forgetting a couple) were some that helped me to rethink and redo my approach to the mud, and ultimately be a much more creative and better-rounded person.

Ah, well. That's just me. I'm surprised nobody else has responded to this yet.
