It's just you. Wait til you got more time on the mud. I used to think just the same way you do. I swore that I'd never play a rager char cause not using magic was just stupid, and the ragers were nothing more than a bunch of morons running around being stupid all the time. I hated them with all the chars I ever created, whether it was a mage or not. But then I started getting bored doind everything the same all the time (this was when I was still relatively new, myself, and only played good chars (cause they were the most like me), clerical class cause not suppremely powerful in one area and supremely weak in another and religious (again, like me). Then I ran into the problem of empowerment and that can take forever depending on who the deity is. So then I decided, ok, I'll try a ranger. They like nature (AGAIN, just like me (notice a pattern developing here?) and I don't have to fuck around with empowerment.) Now he got to be rnak 43 before he con-died (some of you may remember him. Elf ranger named Kaden, Servant of Dawn) After he died, I started several other chars and decided to try something new this time. Started several mages and a healer (thought this time I was actually ready for getting empowered). The mages all eventually got deleted and the healer became my main char, got empowered but still good and still hated magic. I stopped really playing for a long time cause I was getting bored. I just kept starting new chars cause I was getting more fun out of getting them to a reasonable rank than I was trying to get them high where I kept getting pk'd all the time. Then one day I decided to start a char for Battle. My first attempt was a shit char and couldn't do jack without magic so I just deleted him. My next try was the rager I got now. Now all of this has taken place over about a year and a couple months. It isn't like this all happened in just a couple months. Anyway, once I stuck with playing this rager wannabe, and eventually, actual rager, I realised that all you have to do to make those other classes/cabals more fun, is roleplay. just tell youself that this is a character and NOT you. This character is different from your last char and therefore should be treated the same and be given a different personality and different mannerisms. When you start a new char, ALWAYS discard the personality of the last char. I've gotten good enough at it now, that I have two main chars. One is a high rank rager, the other is a mage tattooed by Selric. Now how's that for antithesis? There is alot more to the ragers than just idiots who hate magic running around trying to pk everyone. The ragers are supposed to be about fighting with honor, and respect for the gods, and the village, and anyone else who deserves it. Now I know that isn't always the case with some ragers, and I can think of several who really don't deserves to be a ragers, but you some are going to slip through. Also, ragers are supposed to be able to fight well, and keep a head on their shoulders in combat and out. They should always be prepared for a fight and not go run and hide if it looks dangerous. It didn't take me long to realise that my view of the ragers was not correct. I actually enjoy being a rager now. It's a big change from being a Servant of the Dawn though *chuckle*. Ok, enough of my ramblings.
