It's been awhile since I played a paladin so I'm not sure this is correct, but here goes.
I think lay hands has a chance of curing blindness, poison, and disease including crimson scourge. I don't think it will affect things such as damnation, wither, rot.
I don't think anything stops shield bash, but it does very little damage and lags them anywhere from none to extremely little, not like bash.
