Also have we really been able to determine that CF is set in the medieval times? Star-Wars is futuristic, but yet, it's set a long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away).
Just because they don't drive around in Fords or fight with Howitzers doesn't mean that it's medieval.
We as the populous of Thera really are the ones who determine social standards.
I wouldn't suggest basing your character around a time period which CF may or may not be set in.
