I got my account banned at Uni for playing a certain MUD - But I don't think your grasping how quickly technology is taking off. :

Perhaps there will be a place for it but what happens if a game like CF say Abandoned Realms went graphical (i doubt it). It would have a hard time getting the numbers ... it could turn from a 100 player mud to 50 or less. That is one of the reasons I play this MUD. It encourages PKing and has a lot of people playing it. It WOULD lose its charm if only 30 people played.

As for technology (optical fibre allows at least 1 mb/sec I am lead to believe) Graphics will be easily transported between networks so I believe that it will affect Uni students in 3 years or so.

> there will be a place for commercial graphical muds and a place for the likes of CF
