Well, any well-played warrior of nearly any race/class can be fearsome (except felar sword :P). Llorenthos excelled as a drow warrior and then played a pretty kickass (but much lesser-known) gnome warrior, for example. But, here are my personal favorites, with the specs listed in the order they should be chosen.

arial sword/whip

felar staffspear/hand

fire polearm/axe

Various explanations of why each of these is good can be found in various parts of this thread, so I won't go into depth on each. I've found it helpful to break specs down in terms of Defense (spin, distance, flourintine, overall weapon parrying ability, etc.), Offense (drum, pincer, flurry, and innate weapon properties, etc.), and Utility (choke, cranial, stun, strip, etc.) From there, try to find a pair that complement each other well. For example, mace/axe overlap so much that they make a poor combination. Sword/whip, on the other hand combine balanced offense/defense in swords, with pure utility in whips, and thus make an excellent pair.
