> I understand the basics of triggers and the rest but how do I use them in CF? Sorry if this sounds dumb but I'm a real newbie. I don't really have any idea about anything Using these client functions is the same in Course, these are my thoughts on it, other
CF as in any other mud. How exactly you put
them in depends on which mud client you use,
so check the help files provided with that
client program. Some people prefer a large
number of triggers/aliases/macros etc in
varying combinations. Personally, I prefer
to not use triggers, and use aliases only
sparingly. The Macros I use are mostly the
inherited ZMud Rom/MERC settings, i.e., the
mapping of the numeric keypad for movement
directions, as well as using the function
keys for certain commands that I may need to
type in a hurry (such as quaff return, or
rescue (groupmate)). Some of the aliases
I've used include aliasing (c) to (commune),
or (mu) to murder. Other things I've used
aliases for, and seen them used for by others,
is to create character-specific emotes that
you use often enough to not want to type them
out each time (like bowing in a special way
or something).
As far as triggers, I'd say don't use them.
Always reacting in a certain way can be bad,
especially if people find out you have a
trigger for something, and exploit it (which
is perfectly allowed in the rules), such as
someone doing "emote has summoned you!" to
a guy with a summon trigger.
people use more (or less) of them. All in
all, you don't need triggers/aliases/macros
to be good or even great at the game, even
where the playerkilling part is concerned.
Experiment around, and see what's best for
you.
