I had someone do this same thing to me while on a Hell trip. I was a shaman in the group (useless as tits on a boar) - and as such got to be the taster of unknown foodstuffs in a certain evil City down below. We were all standing around waiting for me to ingest some herb creatively named "Herb of Certain Death" or somesuch, and after I ate it someone voodoo'd me. Needless to say I turned a bit pale (me , the player that is) - but I was let in on the joke fairly quickly.
