While rolling a character I settle on where s/he's from, who the parents are, some history, and the beliefs of the character, but the cabal doesn't seem that important to the character itself. Most of my characters *ended up* in cabals, but often I didn't expect it or was actually shooting for a different cabal. For example, if a character is chaotic, they make not like any cabals at all because they symbolize order (except for Entropy, which really should be an anti-cabal or something.) Anyway, just my 2 cents.
That sounds nice, but it doesn't make much sense. When you say that there is no reason, "except for RP", to NOT become part of a cabal, it makes me wonder: What other reason would there be to do anything?
