Yes you can transmute weapons....
now there are 3 things that can happen with any transmute.
1. It is a complete success, meaning all stats on the item stay the same.
2. It is a partial success, meaning the item is transmuted to wood, but the AC drops on the item...or for weapons the average drops slightly, I think
or the worst
3. The item blows up

any three can happen it all depends upon your level vs. the item level, and how well you have the supplication learned
