Is a forum FAQ in order, so we may be spared repetitive posts? I would be happy to contribute to such a document, either by sending ideas for FAQs or answering the ones that I know how to answer.

It could (or might not) spare the CF community from having to pick through oodles of "When is (IMM) on?" or "What does this item (which is in the item search database) do?" or "I can't connect to CF? What the hell?" posts. Make a little link to the document in a visible place, and pray that it heads off commonly asked stuff at the pass.

My entry for "Is (IMM) around?":

First, use "area shrine" to make sure the IMM's shrine still exists. Often, but not always, if an IMM will be inactive for some reason, they will remove their shrine as to not fool paladins. If the shrine is in, and you are seeking empowerment/tattooing:

1) Make sure your description is solid, and conforms to the helpfile guidelines.
2) Write a note to your IMM, explaining your purpose.
3) Look around for mortal followers IN GAME, and ask them for aid or advice.
4) Read "Help Pray", and follow the guidelines therein. Do not spam the heavens.
5) Make sure you are in the correct shrine. *chuckle* Not that I've done that.
6) Never, ever drop your role. Do not tell your groupmates that you have a potato in the oven or your computer's new graphics card "rocks" or what have you. I assure you, you can work around it.
7) Take it in stride. Continuing to level never hurts. Sure, you won't have those nifty level 11+ supplications right away, but you will earn brownie points when IMMs see you are remaining active. If you are playing your role well, -someone- will eventually take notice. Of my last three empowered characters, I fairly sure two were empowered by a different IMM because my chosen one was not around. It happens.
8) Try logging on at times that are odd for you. Your IMM may live in a very different time zone. This is the only way I ever ran into Justin, as an example.
9) If you see a "lower" IMM of similar nature (Jaldean instead of Justin, to continue an example, as both are Sphere Knowledge, and Jaldean was empowered and tattooed by Justin), you can often politely entreat them in an in character way.
10) If you aren't an empoweree, ask yourself if you really need the IMM attention to mold a successful character. If you roleplay well enough, you won't need the tattoo for others to know your accomplishments. Forge on.
