I agree. Pking has become more rampant than
in past times as far as I can tell. The level
of roleplaying has dropped as well. There are
quite a few that roleplay incredibly well, but
it seems the majority still use ooc stuff in
conversations and don't really play a role with
their character. Of course this is a generalization
as I've not done any research. I'm wondering if
the sway of power shifting to evil has something to
do with the current rise in pking. Paladins are
pretty much the only good aligned class and they
can't stand toe to toe with many. Throw in empowerment
and there are too few to really make a difference.
The cabals make a big difference also. Empire is purely
evil which is fine, but then add in the Ragers who are
either evil or at best neutral with evil tendancies and
entropy who seems similar in alignment to the village.
It seems there are very few good aligned masters also.
Sylvan, who knows as nobody can see them most of the time
but I'm guessing they're mostly neutral with a few good
aligned thrown in. Dawn... well dawn makes a good training
dummy. So with all the evil running around in the world
yes pking will jump. Then you have the good aligned marans
who kill evil. So you have good aligns out for evil blood
and a ton of evil out for everyone's blood. Makes for a large
pk based mud. Whether this was intended or not, who knows.
My guess is it was. The past golden age of the Knights made being
evil quite tough as there were always Knights and knight wannabes
running all over the countryside. The village wasn't as powerful
as they are now and the masters had their non aggression pact going
so they weren't too bad either. Seems the gods wanted the world
stirred up a bit. The Knights falling always seems a turning point
in the darkening of Thera. It seems the reason for them dying was
more than valid though as more and more Knights failed to get the idea
of being good and chivalrous (sp). Ok rambling time is over.
