Having been on CF pretty much since the beginning, even during my own periods of being in less than favored standings, I have only recently (the last year or so)
begun to do the IRC thing. After all I have seen, said, and done as a result, I would have to say you are mistaken.

Do some people help other players characters? Yes, that does sometimes happen, but with the exception of the mass-PK style groupings, it tends to just
enhance the overall effect. I was asked on many occasions to roll up a character and group with a couple guys, and I tend to say no. Not my thing,
really. However, I have also had the chance to meet several of the gods via IRC, and bounce my ideas off of them personally. This has lead me to take
more risks in my character concepts, to try new things, and to generally just have a great time.

I tend to. Sure, I know who many of the others are, but as of late, I only run into them by coincidence. There are a couple, I admit, who I
intentionally seek out, but more often than not, they're also always in my opposing cabals.

The kind of people which would do that are precisely the kind who dont have the capacity for RP, if they'd base thier character actions on your forum post, or a log, or an IRC comment.
