Heh, Here goes your life and most of your spare time. Its After you get some kind of telnet program....You'll need to After that there is a a large amount of help files (like There is also an academy one d and one n of where your This is a TEXT based world. So if this puts you off....run A few things to remeber....THIS IS A PLAYER KILLING MUD... Roleplaying is REQUIRED here at Carrion Fields. If you do The gods have put alot of work into making this world as You cannot be killed by everyone. Just ones at or near Heck..this is getting long enough...so i'll let you go for Best of luck. Eric Crane
very addicting and once you are...you'll be there alot.
O.K. A telnet program is required. I use one designed
specifically for muds (it has all kinds of macros and
things). Its called ZMUD and can be found at
http://www.zuggsoft.com/zmud/down.cfm.
enter in a few things like the telnet address which is
thera.carrionfields.org and the port number is 9999.
help newbie, help death, help religion....that kind of
thing). If you re-visit the web page and read about Thera
and its rules, areas, tips, death, history, realism...it
should get you started.
character will start. Read each sign in the academy and it
will give you the basics about moving around in Thera, get
you a bit trained, give you some backround, The religions,
the cabals (sort of like gangs or guilds with a common
goal). You also start with a few maps of the world in
general and some of your hometown in specific. (I'd
suggest you pick the hometown of Galadon (the
capital)....most people will be there usually and you can
get help and advice from those there).
now!
which means after level 10 people will be gunning for you.
The usual reason for this is the hieghtened excitement of
hunting other players, to take whatever gear you've
accumulated, and some of the evils for the sheer pleasure
of it. Dont take it too personally. Remember...you will
be killed....probably alot until you learn the ropes.
not plan on creating a character with some depth and style
and playing him as if he really existed, with descriptions
of his looks, then CF is not for you. The gods will
destroy you or at least hurt severly if your character is a
'good' aligned character and you go on an indescriminite
killing spree of everything near you.
realistic as possible. They coded in alot interesting
races and classes with abilities and drawbacks to each.
They've also coded a large amount of areas in themselves
and so the world is HUGE and adventuring can be fun
(although you have to watch your back alot). The cabals
and the politics between them, religions, different gods
all with thier own goals make for an interesting place to
be.
your level so dont be too worried. Some have been around
for a long time and are very good at killing others. So
prepare to be killed after level 10. It will happen.
I'd suggest starting with a warrior. Perhaps dwarf (prob
the best to start with...they have alot of hit points so
they can hang around in a fight for a long time), giant, or
human (human gains levels the fastest and has very few
drawbacks...but no special abilities). Stay away from the
mage class for a bit until you learn your way around. Stay
away from the cleric classes completely for awhile. They
REQUIRE that you roleplay very well, as you have to
interact with the gods, and have to find thier shrines and
pray alot to them.
now. send me a tell when/if you come by i.e. (the command
to send a tell is 'tell luthien blah blah blah...' and
i'll try to help you out if you have questions. Or you can
just yell (yell blah blah blah) out your questions but some
are very sarcastic or abusing depending on what thier
character is like.
Currently playing the Char of Luthien, dwarven warrior and
hater of magic and all mages. And killer of same (get the
point?...he's got some goal, and point to his life).
