Well, at first I had the same opinion, but later changed my mind.
Let's say you have a level 20 char that is naked and cannot get
some fancy stuff. You log on your hero and other heroes invite you
to go somewhere where you happen to get some nice things that your
level 20 char could use. Also, you know that if you leave these
nice things to those other heroes they will pass them to your
level 20 char. This is similar to what happened. Shannagen, even
though he's not level 20, just couldn't go and get that item on
his own. But his another character could. With help or not, but it's
the same, it's getting items that your another character cannot get
himself. This is where rules work.

What I find bad in that case is that he was denied on sight without
any conversation with an immortal that did it. That just doesn't seem
right to me.
