The result could be a few things, not least of which would be some crappy first-person fantasy for you imms to read anytime you want. Groovy...I think. > The question is this: I've been doing a dialogue/diary thing, and I want to know how often to write in it. Where's the point where you just see a bunch of text and decide it's not worth the time? As often as you want to write, write...however, were I you, I would caution you to only write about things that matter greatly to your character and to the roleplay there of. The reason for the role command is so immortals have a way of seeing what the person is up to, and how the player is trying to play the character. It's also there for you to remind yourself what you're doing with the character, and why your character does certain things. > How long is too long? Does quality matter? Is it worth the effort, ie, do you even *like* reading storytale roles over bland character sheets? :P Let's see in order that they were asked: > If you recognize the name, you know my role. Hope this helped
As to when we give up on a role, and just oh bother...well, that varies with how important your role is (and decently written) if it explains your character, we'll read it, if not and it just drags on and on and on...we'll probably skim it, maybe. Generally, if you feel it's important to add to your role...add, don't worry too much about length unless it's just superfleous random stuff you're writing.
TOO LONG: I'm not sure the exact length, but the phrase 'damned long' works well enough for me.
QUALITY: Yep....remember we're human, and a well written, interesting role will get us reading a lot more enthusiastcily than a crappily, shoddy role of mealy-mouthed bs that explains nothing about the character.
EFFORT: I'd say it is. If it tells you anything, more imms who play mortals all tend to have roles. Granted some of us tend to be overly verbose...but *shrug* well, it happens.
