"Everybody that the dice are loaded
I feel bad for saying this (since most people who ask if I was watching I can happily say 'yep') but I'm not sure if I ever saw you around or praying...so I can't comment on how you did as a Maran or not.
As for how I work, it's not like that in most cases...it just appears to be like that. Yes I do watch a lot, and there are times I will ignore prayers from even the best Maran, just to see how they deal with it...but there is a method to the madness, and once I've made my mind up one way or the other I tend to let the person know. In all honesty, if you're looking for a lot of immortal interaction with your character throughout the characters life...I wouldn't ever suggest playing a Maran. Towards the end, some have found me around a lot...and I appear at random to others throughout their career...but for the most part, most Maran's don't actually see me until they're heading along the hero stretch. Why? Well, part of it is Shok's roleplay...another part of it, is that I want to know how people act when they think I'm not around...and probably the last bit is that there are just times when I don't feel like interacting as Shokai.
One thing I tell a lot of Maran at some point is to pay attention to things around them, there are some times that I'll let Shok's presence be known by something that seems mundane, but in a rp sense would clue the character in. Ever been wandering an area and seen the sun come up early, or seen the sun come up when you were indoors? Or felt a breeze drift past, a silver light show up, a small bird chirp contently, etc? Chances are this is some immortal (yes I've used all of the above) way of giving you a nudge of hope....maybe.
I guess my point is that I know I'm not the easiest imm to follow when it comes to patience and what not...but I do try to make it worthwhile in the end....and really, once you get the tattoo...my ears are kinda perked and opened for prays...again a bit of Shokai ic-ness.
everybody rolls with thier fingers crossed
everybody knows that the war is over
everybody knows that the good guys lost
everybody knows that the fight is fixed
the poor stay poor
and the rich get rich
and that's how it goes
everybody knows.."
