I have had one or two gnome warriors that were actually fairly successful but then I never had to run up against the bearcharge thing and yes, unfortunately, the smaller you are against bearcharge, the worse. The only good thing is you will rarely get backraked... On to the suggestions, however... Gnome warriors do have a few strengths, regardless of what anyone says. One is their stature, again, regardless of what anyone says. Swords are quite possibly one of the worst weapons for a gnome to spec in to take full advantage of this though. I never had one, but I know of one staff/spear spec gnome who was *very* effective in combat. His size made him nearly impossible for giant warriors to defeat (they had trouble just hitting him for some reason) and defensive spin nearly negated the extra damage he took from mace/staff spec warriors. The only class he had problems with was invokers. Now, I have made a polearm spec gnome. This isn't nearly as crazy as it sounds. We all know of some felars who did fairly well with polearms as their spec and gnomes are a bit stronger (go figure). Once you get charge set, you're a whole new package... Combine it with cutoff and distance and you can be fairly effective. Gnome dagger specs are scary *if* they are not tanking. When they are, mace/staff specs eat them for breakfast, not to mention just about anyone who uses something besides a sword or dagger against them. They just aren't a parrying weapon. I have seen few people who have managed a decent dagger spec without getting their butts whooped on a regular basis, at least starting off. Another weapon spec for gnomes I thought of trying (but was sure would be hard to actually find weapons for) was axe. The gnome strength really comes into play here but I'm thinking weapon breaker would be really nice when someone came after you with a blunt weapon. Just a thought. I have no idea how effective one of these would be. Finally, my last and most obvious suggestion would be to play nice with rangers. It's just crazy enough that it might work... ;) Harlequin
