I remember that fateful day. I was standing in Tar Valon hearing Twist shout to the world, "If the choice is between cabal and alignment, cabal is more important!" This to allow those of the light in the masters cabal to kill their "enemies of nature".
I understand this sea change. I don't think I will ever agree that this makes the game better. Basicly you can now justify anything in the name of sphere or cabal. Alignment as a foil for roleplay only? From my perspective Grislan should be turned neutral after he demonstrates this "order first creedo". With or without penalty. Isn't it nearing the time when you no longer choose an alignment on character creation? For instance, you have an elven rager killing elven mages. The rager cabal views this as their societal norm, but is it Thera's? I just can't see the killing of a class because "mages killed my father revenge thing" as a societal norm. And isn't it societal morality that defines good and evil? Dysfunction is what it really is :) Or one even more hilarious, nature opposes magic. That is a construct guarantee'd to fuel a circular philosophical debate for ever.
Having said this, this isn't an axe grind against this character, his cabal or his sphere. I just took the opportunity to soap box.
