I was awoken this morning, on my birthday, by a revelation. I feel I found myself walking through a dark mist. I was wandering, though From the distance I could see they were enormous, but as I neared Now that I was closer I could see a few of them more clearly. I saw As I looked around I noticed that nearly all of their kind were here. Now I decided to focus upon there voices. They boomed like thunder, ' It is mine... ' With that, a shadowy figure, one I had not seen before, stepped forward I staggered back, as if struck through my own heart. My mind flooded with For a moment, my focus drifted to the battle-scarred dwarf. I suddenly felt As I began to realize what little divided us I felt myself growing in size. The other gods stood paralyzed, too shocked to react. In the corner of my eye, Finally, I stepped before the shadowy one. The fear in his eyes meant nothing The mist began to thicken... I awoke a few minutes later. This dream was like none I had ever had. My memory The gods are mere mortals who have unlocked the secrets of this realm.
that the FACTS I have discovered are another key to unlocking the
greatest power in realms. My delight in caustic elements and sausabru
remains, but now I find myself, with this knowledge, obligated to
follow another path in my life. The revelation came to me in the
form of a dream.
I did not feel lost. Ahead I saw a dim glow. As I neared I saw a
circle of cloaked figures. They were gathered around a cauldron, or
perhaps it was pool of liquid carved into a boulder...but it could
of merely been an altar for the mist that filled this place seemed
to grow and fall from the focus of these figures.
they continued to grow larger, as if which each step I shrank and
they grew. When I finally stood beside one of them they towered so
far above me they could have been wilder giant and me a worm or ant.
My diminutive size allowed me to stand there entirely unseen.
one, slightly larger than the rest wore a flaming crown. I could feel
much hatred and power in him. I envied this giant. The next figure
closest to him, was an animal kin of some kind. A man, no doubt, but
one who knew nothing of civilization. For a moment I saw the color
of his eyes, a glowing emerald green. Looking upon him I felt a love
for life, a sense of tranquility and a swelling disgust in my belly.
This man and the giant seemed very close..speaking aside to each other
every few moments.
An elf whispered melodic words to the stubby, scarred, 80 foot dwarf
next to her. A silvery bird-man stood laughing, clasping the skeletal
hand of some dark-hearted abomination that was very close to him. I
sensed much evil in this one, power far beyond anything I had ever seen.
Again, I felt envy.
shaking my chest and even their whispers made the ground below my feet
tremble.
' It is ours... '
' This power shall remain ours.'
' What keeps one of us from merely taking it when the others turn their backs?'
' You know that not one...not two...none but all of us can control this thing.'
' We must agree to work together, or all will be lost...or WE will be lost.'
' Without it we are nothing, we all know that.'
and slowly reached into the mist. Clasping something he lifted his hand
over his head and begin circling so that each figure could see what he held.
Finally he turned so I could see what he held...it was a heart, ethereal,
shimmering, magical...still beating. It was the heart of a fallen god.
The heart of a power that gave the gods their power. The heart of magic.
The heart of Twist.
thoughts. If...this was the source of their power...than...there was no
difference between the power of a god, and the relatively weak magic that
I possess. The only thing that divided our powers were a few spoken words,
merely a degree of mastery. Something else struck me. In the tales of gods
I have heard, I had never heard of anything they could do, that could not be
similarly done with mortal hands. The power the mortals perceived in them was
an illusion. They were...they are...false gods.
a great admiration...and envy for this one.
Within an instant I stood eye-to-eye with each one. The gods turned to me,
a look of anger and wrath in all of them. I laughed, for I knew they could
not harm me. I stepped toward the wilder man, and without thinking I thrust my
hand straight into his chest and just as quickly pulled out his heart. I took
one bite out of it, crushing what was left in my hand. The warm blood of a god
trickled down my arm, and a sense of euphoria filled me...a dizzying high.
I saw the heartless one shrink slowly away, but that did not concern me. One by
one, I stepped up to each god, rippping their heart out, tasting their blood.
Even the lich's still heart was tasted.
to me. His heart was the sweetest. With that, he lost the power to hold the Heart
of Magic and I caught it as it fell towards the altar.
of it was far, far too clear. I had been conscious during it. It had been a
magical dream. I have no idea how it got into my mind, or why, but these things
are not important. What I have seen is the truth.
