I just feel compelled to tell you how well you write. Your description gives chills... and your role is seamless. I didn't like how you had two disasters in there in the beginning, one's usually enough, the plague seemed thrown in to give you a reason to hate nature and real out of place -- the story about the fire was much better and more interesting, as was everything after the plague, it was literature, and very very good.
