I waited a few days after I was anathema'd to decide if I wanted to to try to do anything else with this char. Bottom line was I couldn't really come up with a new direction for him i felt comfortable with, I couln't justifiy his further empowerment to myself (making me think i'd have an even harder time with Zulg), and he still needed a lot of work (10 more ranks plus a lot of work on 4 major supplications) which I didnt want to put into a character I was probably gonna can anyway. I decided in the long run i'd be better off moving on to another char. The main reasons I wanted to play an Imperial fire shaman were I knew Empire would not be boring (like the cabals without enemies right now) and I thought a few more imperial heros would make the game more entertaining for everyone and wanted to do my part in that. In addition i wanted something to kill paladins with and, while i think APs are better for that, i wanted to be survivable against ragers as well. I was ranking farely quickly because I hate giving up ranks and Empire is pretty weak at the upper rank right now. I had been around a little under two weeks when i was anathemad and was rank 41. The short life of the Char went something like this: got lucky and got empowered the day after i had finished his initial role; took about 8 days to get the bloodoath because Empire never had the codex; was oathed about 3 days before being inducted, was actually surprised i found both the Emperor on and the Codex in the Throne room that soon; was a citizen for 2 days and was then anathema'd. The reason i was anathemad was not retrieving the codex(imperial law number two actually though i doubt we could have taken any of the other cabal items). There had been two recoveries already. The first was done by me, a warrior, and a transmuter against two ragers all of whom where in range. The warrior ended up dieing but we got the codex. After that, Sylvan immediatle took the codex which was then recovered by others facing no opposition and sylvan retook it again. At this point there were 4 citizens on, myself 41 shaman, a 20 something necro, a 30 something conjie and a 30 something assassin. The assassin was the only one who wanted to recover. I was more interested in finding a group and ranking since there was no on to defend it anyway. I think the other two were thinking along the same line. The three of us where anathemad and the assassin went to recover, which i think he did succesfully. Think the lesson i learned was if im an imperial and we cant hold the codex, and i dont feel like constantly retreiveing, the best thing to do is quit until i do. Recover it one more time then just quit. Will the cabal get any stronger like this? No. But it won't get any weaker either. Not trying to whine, at this point i dont really care, just explaining what happened to Gruntock, though i doubt anyone really knew who he was anyway since, as i said, he had only been around for about 2 weeks.
