> Let me address your points one by one: > Enter a cabal for its powers? Lets see...what does masters give an invoker? A spell that weakens, blinds, poisons and attacks. > Scourge needs to be toned down, no doubt. I would be much more interested in a game where cabal powers weren't so game-swinging (scourge being one of the major reasons conjurers like Rendak did well). > Kind of a fair trade for insect and wall. Extra health, easier learning and less mana needed for casting. > True, on the invoker side, the other ones have different effects, but, here is where I disagree. > Insect swarm isn't really a fair trade for anything. It and thorns were the only reasons that I had problems with you guys. It seemed like a whole bunch of times, that's all you'd do (spam swarm, then you'd kill one of us). Dispute it? I have logs backing what I say up. > We can hide. I have seen people leave a wall of thorns on its first attempt as well. Nine times, hard to believe...you need to log that one. > Actually, I couldn't that time, I was on a straight telnet client mudding from school. However, an average of four to six times for me has just been unfair. > Masters, as of late almost always outnumber us sylvans. So for the few times when the odds were close, and that hasnt been much, a few sylvans got the best of you. > All right, I will concede this, that the Masters almost always outnumber the sylvans. However, it seems when Sylvan is on, they're either on in force when there's a lot of Masters around, or you might have one random lowbie around when the Master hero range is about. > > So make some allies! Master has done all that in-game, all the political negotiations in the game have been done there. Try roleplaying some, and not being some nameless shark that tries to swarm us, and maybe we'd respect you a bit more. I have made allies, quite a few actually, but more times than not, there is me and another warder and perhaps an ally or two and our range is 8-10 masters, 2-3 scarabs, a few imperials, not to mention being a mage, I also have to avoid the occassional rager. Because of all the time I do spend in Thera, and since most of the time I am way outgunned and hunted, the only place where I can really put up a fight at all is on the water. I know that Masters has negotiated with cabals, but what cabals can I, as a mage and sylvan negotiate with? Heck, I tried my darndest to get Dawn more involved, but that is IC stuff and I wont go into that more and the people involved shouldnt either. I do have quite a few marans as allies and a few others, but very rarely do we come together in force to make a respectable showing. Ragers certainly dont want me as an ally, Marans wont raid the tower because lightwalkers also live there, Entropy....well, they are just fun for the most part to hang out with for me. And I really only hang out with one and know a couple more in passing. I am not complaining about the situation. It has not kept me away and masters know that if I am not in the water, I really dont pose a threat alone. Heck, masters by far have handed me more beatings off the water than anyone else. But, on the other side of that token, I think, maybe I am wrong, that the shark, and the way that I use it is somewhat effective in putting apprehension in a few about crossing the water. I am not just a shark, and I do try to play my role, but, you as a dark-elf, IC, we have nothing to talk about, so you wouldnt know about it. And, when there are more allies or warders about, my role is a little different, until my group calls for the shark. Maybe my allies only see me as a shark as well, but I spend a lot more time with them not as a shark. Uller lets me know if I am a disappointment, and I have not been set straight since I was much younger and I know that I am watched all the time. Heh...at least I would hope I am, since I find myself alone against the vast Master Horde so much. No complaints from me though...each day I learn a little more.
> So what. The masters by far have more than gotten the best of me. Ok...usually on land. But you cant spend your entire life in water either. Who do you have as allies? Servants and Arbiters leave you alone. Empire and Scarabs (for the most part) are your allies. So, you have a few pesky Sylvans, Marans and the never to be seen villagers bothering you. And we are overpowered. Try being a Sylvan mage. Who are your allies then? A few Entropists and some Marans. The vast numbers more than make up for a wall of thorns.
