the time and then just summon a battlement guard and transform on is not the same. Having played both master necromancers and non-masters I tell you it sure was easyer as the master. I would have ample time to curse, fire and blind before I needed to rescue.
The thing is, you can have transform up all the time, but is sucks having to collect wands all the time. The most easy to pick up protections can be used both by masters and non-masters.
