If you're not really into writing and elaborate creativity, go ahead and keep it brief. If you feel like showing off, no reason not to ramble on, but I don't think it's 100% essential. Cover the really important stuff. Take your sphere, your class, your align, your ethos, and weld them into a coherent story or philosophy, whichever you prefer. If you have any oddities to your char, for example, a peculiar manner of speech, a preference for one weapon or another, a way of dressing or eating or fighting, or basic conflicts with one sort of person or creature, I'd explain that in your role, too, so when the Imms see you doing these things, they know they're roleplaying and not just stupidity or greed or something. Also, based on how my chars have been received in the past, I think Imms prefer a role that you keep adding to throughout your lifetime.. tell how your fight with Joebob the Swordpupil (or whatever) affected your beliefs, etc. This stuff may be self-evident, or in the forum search, or in the help files, I've no idea. It's just advice.
