a drow known as Mazzim. Though our High Elven cousins despise them,
this one seemed to be both clever and wise. We spoke at great length
about the decline of Thera, and the poison that has spread throughout
the cities and towns, blinding all to the important things.
not my preferred art form, but I try my hand at it from time to time,
though I cannot say that I have any great gift for it. Often, I find myself
furiously scratching away, filling the hall with parchment because the
initial effort lacked something. The piece is failing to come together
for some reason, and I rack my mind for a way to fix it. In these times,
I have found that the best way to handle matters is not to make small
adjustments, changing a word here and there. The problem is more
pervasive- the work is fundamentally flawed. When I see this, what is
best is to pick up the paper, and heap it into the fire. Certainly, one
may remember a particular character for future work, and in a way that
character is spared from the flames. But to create something new and
beautiful, one must wipe the slate clean.
The problem with my previous thinking was that a series of small changes
will not add up and solve a large problem. I must think of greater tasks-
and bring a fire to those Therans who do not see the true way to live.
