PWK is different from cleave in several key ways...
for one, Cleave is (or was, back when) just a low-percentage shot with around 5% instant-kill.
Pwk, on the other hand, gives you a saving throw, which for most people is going to suck. Pwk can be used repeatedly in combat, simply by the necro blinding an opponent, rescuing with a mob, pwk'ing, and repeating until dead or mana is gone. Pwk does not work on anybody higher level than the necro, atleast not for an instant kill.
One other bonus of Pwk... if your target is 10 ranks lower than you, they get _no_ save. Instant death.
PWK is also a negative attack type, which has bonuses and penalties all its own for damage done in certain situations.
