In Reply to: When it takes 4 cabals, an arbiter war, and a leader that INTENTIONALLY sabatoges a Cabal to bring it down, ya gotta wonder if mayby it really is a little over-powered. (nt) posted by Thinker on June 26, 2000 at 12:00:36:
It didn't take all of that to "bring the ragers down." It took all of that to make the people playing ragers not have any more fun, and stop playing those ragers. With the sheer numbers of high level ragers that were around during Dhaevor and Minalcar's leadership times, even against 4 cabals (including the arbiters). By the way, on a side note, what 4 cabals are you talking about? I count Master, Empire, and Arbs (which you seem to count twice in your N/T post?)...unless you're counting Dawn? Dawn would hurt, I agree, but I don't think they were really in an all-out war with them...ie I don't think Dawn raided Battle for the head and gave it to Master. I could be wrong, though. That's still only 3+Arb War.
The thing that brought the ragers to a halt was really the fact that everyone stopped playing them. The reasons for that: A re-done class, less fun (sucks to have to hunt down and kill repeatedly the guy you swore to follow a week ago), and most of all, the snowball-down-the-hill syndrom. A viscious circle. Some ragers stop logging in. Others see that, and stop logging in themselves ("fuck if I'm going to be on alone"). The first ragers, now "justified" in not logging on, stay off even more. Others start to lose heart (and con) and THEY roll up other chars.
Let me end this (already far too long) post by saying I don't play a rager now, and haven't since when Dhaevor first became leader. I got inducted, played once after that, and then let him autodelete when I saw the hordes of ragerbies, not wanting to be one to add to the pile. My reason for saying this? I'm objective on this whole thing.
